Northern Illinois University Students Rush To Get Orange Bowl Tickets For BCS

December 3, 2012 (DEKALB) --- A busy sight at the NIU Convocation Center Monday morning.
Students rushing to the ticket office to reserve their tickets for the Discover Orange Bowl game.
"The buzz is very positive. Everyone is excited to go to the Orange Bowl," said Brandon Grosz, NIU junior student.
Many students and fans have already marked their calender for January 1st, that's when the NIU Huskies will take on the Florida State Seminoles.
The teams will face off in the Orange Bowl, it's part of the prestigious BCS bowl game.
"Words cannot describe how happy I really am. When I get down to Miami I'm going to have fun, support our team, and it's going to be great to the Orange Bowl," said Terrance Hopson, NIU 2nd year graduate student.
NIU Associate Atheltices Director Donna Turner was busy all morning waiting for the arrival of BCS representatives.
Representatives got a chance to tour the campus where they chatted with students about the once in a lifetime opportunity for the university.
Turner said, the university has around 17,500 tickets available, and the hot ticket to the game will be free for the student body.
"Hopefully, it will be a benefit to them and to get them involved, and in touch with the athletics program," said Turner.
There are several travel packages already available online-- costing fans anywhere from $750 dollars to $2,000.
Turner said, she isn't sure of what to expect, but knows turnout will be massive for the Huskies.
"We've never been in a BCS bowl game before so there's no way to tell what the number will be. Whatever happens it's going to be an experience for our team, fans, and students."
School officials said, a student package is currenty in the works and should be ready in the next few days.
A pep rally is also scheduled for Wednesday at the men's basketball game to celebrate the BCS announcement.
