Rockford - The NIU Huskies are back in town, fresh off their defeat at the hands of Florida State in the Orange Bowl last night.

The team arrived at the Rockford Airport this morning.  It wasn't exactly the triumphant return Huskies fans were hoping for.  But, the team and their followers have a lot to be proud of.

The mood was a little somber.  Still, many fans we talked to say they hope the team's performance for the season will translate into even more success next year.  Despite traveling more than 3,000 miles round trip to Miami, they say the memories of the trip will last a lifetime.  "It was disappointing and upsetting that we lost" says NIU student Whitney Cartwright.  "But, regardless of how the game went we were there and it was an honor just to be there."

"Our show that we did was pre-game" says band member Dana Young.  "But, being able to do that in front of 72,000 people was something I'll never forget."
