On Monday city council voted to reject the 2013 budget proposal. Among other things the city can't seem to agree on how to move forward with geographic policing. The controversial topic has long been hotly debated in council chambers and now its holding up the budget.

Alderman Frank Beach said "THESE ARE IMPORTANT FINANCIAL DECISIONS  THAT AREN'T JUST 20-30 DOLLARS--AND SO I THINK YOU'RE GOING TO FIND A LITTLE PUSHBACK IF YOU WILL". The main issues of contention seem to be the proposed locations and their costs, if the city. For the council members the plan is too vague and when it comes to taxpayer dollars, vague, just doesn't cut it.

The city has until march to approve a budget and the council members seem to think they will. Worst comes to worst members say for the sake of agreeing, it's possible for geo policing to be removed from the budget and handled separately. One council member says he would be fine with that, after all it may be their best option
