Around 8:00 A.M. Wednesday, a car crashed into a bus on state Route 40 north of Sterling.  The occupants of the bus, who were mentally handicapped, suffered minor injuries.  Responding officers say that the car driver's injuries, though serious, are believed to be non-life threatening.

Illinois State Police say that the car was traveling north on IL 40 when it lost control on a curve due to icy road conditions.  It collided with a bus headed south on IL 40 near Capp Rd.

Illinois State Police, the Sterling Fire Department and CGH Medical Center responded.  Illinois Department Of Transportation was called to lay salt on the icy road.  Traffic was diverted for about an hour.

The victims' identities are being withheld pending notification of family members.
