Potentially Dangerous Showdown at Rockford's Public Safety Building

Early this morning a tense situation at the Public Safety Building, as police engaged in a showdown with a man in custody. 20 year old Lilrobart Adams was taken into custody this morning, while en route to the jail he told police he was carrying a gun.

Officer says that Adams was searched before being taken into custody but that he implied that he still had a very small gun hidden on him, and that if police tried to remove them from their vehicle he would shoot them.

After hours of talks between Adams and negotiators the police were able to remove Adams from the van when he admitted he in fact wasn't armed.
