Rockford Police Investigate Credit Card Theft Ring

Rockford Police are investigating a string of credit card thefts, at local stores and restaurants.
Police say victims typically have their purses or wallets stolen while shopping or eating out. Thieves strike when the victim is distracted with free wi-fi services or other activities.Females have also been targeted when they place their purses in carts while shopping.
Police say the thieves use the cards the same day to make prepaid gift card and credit card purchases, many have been used at retailers in the Chicago area.
Surveillance video and photographs are currently being reviewed by police.
