Rockford - A former city official accused of corruption is allowed to take a vacation to Mexico.
Mark Bixby, 57, was arraigned in federal court this morning, charged with extortion, mail fraud, and bribery. The indictment accuses Bixby of defrauding contractors out of at least $53,000.
But, in an unusual move, the judge also granted Bixby time for a Mexican vacation. If found guilty, Bixby could be sentences to 20 years in prison for each count.
