While many of our armed service members can't be home this weekend for the Super Bowl, the state will bring a piece of home to them.
Thanks to a partnership with shipping company DHL and Pizza 4 Patriots, 21,000 Chicago-style pizzas will be sent to troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait in time for Super Bowl Sunday. "This Sunday is the biggest pizza eating day in the whole year, Super Bowl Sunday" says Gov. Pat Quinn (D). "We want to make sure the best pizza in the whole world from Illinois gets to our service members in far away places like Afghanistan."
Pizza 4 Patriots first started in 2008.
