Freeport - The Mayor and Deputy Chief are off the hook.
A lawsuit by two former residents accusing them of harassment is dismissed. Rhonda and Douglas Artman supported then district Congressman Don Manzullo in the 2010 election.
Mayor George Gaulrapp was Manzullo's opponent.
The Artmans placed Manzullo's campaign signs on their property. Shortly after, they say police officers visited their home over 50 times. Gaulrapp says he's not surprised by the outcome. "When your own attorneys drop you as clients, that tells you something" says Gaulrapp. "They didn't do any of their homework. Once they did their depositions everything fell apart. Every person they talked to said 'no, that's not how things happened.'"
No internal police investigation was ever conducted. The Artmans now live in Dakota.
