Rockford - A man whose murder conviction was vacated for the death of his ex-girlfriend will get a chance to be declared innocent.
Alan Beaman's petition trial is set for August 6. Beaman was serving a 50-year sentence after being found guilty for stabbing and choking Jennifer Lockmiller in 1993.
He served 13 years in prison before his conviction was overturned by the State Supreme Court on the grounds prosecutors withheld evidence.
