Champaign, Illinois-It's looking more and more like the Fighting Illini will be sitting out the NCAA Tournament again this season. Their loss Sunday to the Badgers was their seventh in their last nine games. It also pushed them down into tenth place in the Big Ten.
John Groce says they would be winning some of these games if his guys simply started playing better team defense.
"We've got to trust one another more out there," says Groce. "We've got to start trusting one another more defensively. We can't be five islands defensively. We've been doing this since October 12th. At some point we've got to execute the simple things that we're asking them to do on a more consistent basis. To do that you have to trust the system and trust one another at a high level."
The Illini's next game will be Thursday night against the new number one team in the country Indiana.
