A quiet Wisconsin farm house and bright red barn quickly turned into a deadly crime scene.

Rock County Police Sgt. Doug Coulter says "at approximately 8:18 this morning we responded for a shooting. The incident right now is it's a fluid situation we have activated our swat team and have set up a perimeter."

The Rock County SWAT team discovered a man in his seventies with a self inflicted gun shot wound severely injured. In the large barn a woman in her early sixties found dead.

Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden explains "the SWAT team then did a methodical search of the area they discovered the body of a female that had apparently been shot."

A neighbor says the man who lived in the 6700 block of Stuart is Dan Bellard. Neighbors called him "Danny" and say he was a retired painter and stock car racer. They mention he lived there with his wife.

Sheriff Spoden says "it appears from out initial investigation that there was some type of altercation."

The man and now suspect in the shooting was flown to UW hospital and is in critical condition.  Rock County Sheriff's deputies have secured the scene and say there's no reason for residents to be fearful.

Sheriff Spoden says "it's these moments that I know about these communities, especially this community is that they're very close knit they care about each other and they're going to be there for each other. And I want the citizens to know that we're going to be there for the community."

Rock County Sheriff's Office has not released any names only that both people were acquaintances. Their investigation is ongoing.
