Champaign, Illinois-Oh Nellie!  What a finish it was in Champaign. The Illini beat top ranked Indiana 74-72 in dramatic fashion.

They rallied from a 12 point halftime deficit. D.J. Richardson hit a three pointer with 2 minutes remaining to pull the Illini within two points. Then with 1:20 left Richardson nailed a two pointer to tie the game at 70.

Indiana brought the ball up the floor with 13 seconds to play, but Richardson stole it and drove toward the basket.  His layup attempt was blocked out of bounds with .9 seconds to play.

The Illini then inbounded and Tyler Griffey broke for the basket.  There wasn't an Indiana player within eight feet of him. Griffey got the ball and laid it in for the Illini win.

Illini fans rushed the court in celebration.

It's the first time Illinois has beaten a number one team since December 1, 2004 when the Illini beat Wake Forest.

Richardson scored 23 points, Paul 21 and Griffey 14 for the Illini.
