Smith Healing 2/12/13

Rockford, Ilinois-Ben Smith is getting closer to playing again for the IceHogs. Tuesday morning he got on the ice to work on his skating following the IceHogs practice.
Smith has been sidelined over a month with a thumb injury that he suffered during an in-game fight. So how long before we see him suit up for game action?
"Hopefully pretty soon," said Smith to WTVO. "Hopefully in the next few weeks. I'm hoping for the best news when I go to the doctors."
Sitting out with an injury is nothing new for Smith. He missed significant time the last two seasons following concussions.
"It's been tough to watch the guys the last ten to 12 games," says Smith. "At the same time you have to heal and make sure you're healthy. I'm definitely ready to get back."
