Springfield - Illinois' second-in-command says she's not interested in running for re-election.
Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon's (D) decision leaves Gov. Pat Quinn (D) without a running mate in next year's election. When asked about her future plans Simon refused to elaborate.
But, in a written statement, Simon says she wants a role where she can have a "greater impact." Simon has served as Lt. Governor since 2010.
