Rising numbers at the pump are taking its toll on Stateline residents, around town we found $3.93 and $3.95 per gallon was common. But what about those who are on the road for a living? For them the skyrocketing costs of fuel can be downright disastrous for business. As cab owner Chris Dennelli told us "..We're definitely taking a hit ."

Denneli owns checker Cab Company, where anytime gas prices rise business suffers. He says in his business you have to spend money to make money-- but lately he's had to spend way too much, adding that "the drivers that work for us are taking a hit too--that's more money that they're not able to bring home to their families  ..."

And he's not the only one

Lifescapes Alan Jones says ".its outrageous, its outrageous to spend that kind of money.."

Jones works for Lifescape, a non profit organization that caters to senior citizens. And with their meals on wheels program dishing out 4000 meals a week. The more than 1500 miles their delivery trucks log is not coming cheap. He told us "..when gas bumps up to 3.85-3.95 a gallon, we're spending an extra 25,000-30,000 dollars a year just on gasoline ." Money that  Jones says is sorely needed elsewhere  ".that could go back into the program or go back into whatever needs to be done.."

Despite the company wallet being stretched dangerously thin, Jones says he considers Lifescape lucky--after all he says we could be living in California, where gas is nearly five dollars a gallon

". I would pity any business that has a car on the road and has to pay that price for gas--its crazy--its crazy..."
