Winter Weather Emergencies Issued Across Stateline

By: Robert Burke
Updated: February 21, 2013

Several Stateline communities have issued snow emergencies or winter weather advisories beginning Thursday evening.

Snow emergencies have been issued for Rockford, Machesney Park and Beloit and a winter weather advisory has been issued for Rock County as another round of snow moves into the area Thursday night.

Reports indicate that the stateline could see a possible three to five inches of total snow accumulation by Friday evening.   Winds could reach 25 mph at times and there is a possibility of freezing rain on Friday afternoon before the storm wraps up.

This winter storm is expected to bring drifting snow, decreased visibility and continued slippery road conditions.

In anticipation of the storm, the Rock County Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone to be aware of the potentially dangerous road conditions and plan accordingly, allowing extra time for travel.
