BELOIT - The initial report prompted Beloit College to put the school into lock down, which caused many parents to call police and the college searching for answers, and most importantly wanting to know if their children were okay.

Around 12:30 Thursday afternoon, police received a call that 51 year-old Jose Rodriguez had threatened another person with a gun.

He was spotted by a police officer heading into an apartment building allegedly armed with a gun.

Beloit College was placed on lockdown since it was so close to the building.

About three hours later, Rodriguez, along with two other women came out of the apartment and was arrested.  He's been charged with disorderly conduct.

Police believe the incident began as a domestic dispute.

"The close proximity where the subject was found, is basically right there on the college campus, so yeah, it was a good safety measure for them to go into the lockdown," said Beloit Police Department Captain Vince Sciame.

The two women were arrested on unrelated charges, both had outstanding warrants with the City of Beloit.  No injuries have been reported.

Since the arrests, the school has been reopened.

Police are searching Rodriguez's apartment for the alleged gun, if they find it he could face additional charges.
