Sophie Brunner called the 1A semi-final game the toughest game of her basketball career. One day later in the state championship game, Brunner and the Lady Bulldogs faced an even bigger deficit early in the game.
But Brunner led the way for Aquin, scoring 33 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in another dominant effort. The Lady Bulldogs also got improved outside shooting and took better care of the ball after a rough first quarter. When the dust settled, they had a fairly decisive victory, and another state championship.
