Suspected Burglars Cause Fatal Car Wreck

Rockford- Rockford Police respond to Holy Family Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, for a call regarding burglars breaking into cars.

While officers were responding to the call, a Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputy located the suspects and a suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the church. The suspects fled the area driving southbound on North Alpine. The suspected burglars then crashed their vehicle into another at the intersection of N. Alpine and Brendenwood.

The female driver, 58, of the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. The three occupants in the suspect vehicle were also transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The burglary and accident remain under investigation. The name of the deceased female driver is not being released pending notification of her family.
