Danica Dazzles at Daytona 500

Roscoe- Danica fans gathered at Poison Ivy Pub and Grill in Roscoe to watch the big race. Owner Steve Quies is a good friend of the Patrick family and has dedicated the bar to her.

Several of the fans we spoke with say they grew up with Danica and also went to high school with her.

Close friend Dan Matz says he's been to every major race that Danica has competed in. He's not happy about missing today's Daytona 500, but says it's still exciting. Matz says "I think it's awesome, being in the pole position is a huge accomplishment just for NASCAR and for a woman in a man's sport. It opens the doors for a lot of young girls."

After making NASCAR history today, Danica is hoping to have a strong season on the sprint cup series.
