Man Sentenced For Gas Station Hit And Run

A man was sentenced to 12 years in jail hitting a gas station attendant with his vehicle and then driving away from the scene.
The incident happened on June 10th, 2012 a little after 9:00 p.m. Police responded to the BP gas station at 1602 N. Alpine Rd. in Rockford. The attendant was injured and was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital for immediate medical treatment.
The attendant later told police that Anderson began yelling and using racial slurs outside of the gas station.
Anderson got into his car and began to drive off westbound, but made an abrupt U-turn on Highcrest. He came speeding back into the parking lot driving directly at the gas station attendant.
Anderson was charged with Failure to Report a Motor Vehicle Accident Involving Personal Injury After Leaving the Scene, Aggravated Battery by use of a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm, Attempt Aggravated Battery, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Driving After Revocation, and Aggravated Reckless Driving.
