FAA Approves Boeing Dreamliner Battery Redesign

By: Alex de Leon
Updated: March 12, 2013
Boeing's most advanced commercial jetliner may live the dream again very soon.

The FAA approved the company's plan to redesign the battery for the 787 Dreamliner.  It's the first step in getting the much maligned aircraft back in the air.  Boeing will rework the internal battery components to minimize the chances of a short circuit.

The FAA will test it extensively before allowing the Dreamliner to take flight.  It's been grounded since January after a pair of battery fires onboard forced emergency landings.
