Just who is the new pope?
Pope Francis I is the first pontiff to assume the job after a resignation in several hundred years. Here's a few facts about him:
1) Born Dec. 17, 1936
2) Became a Jesuit in 1969
3) Ordained Bishop in 1992
4) Ordained Archbishop in 1998
5) Proclaimed Cardinal in 2001
Pope Francis is known as a man of the people. He never lived in the church's mansion in his home country preferring a simple bedroom that was heated by a small stove. The Pontiff has his detractors though. Many accuse him of not standing up publicly against Argentina's military dictatorship in the 70s and 80s.
