Men In Jail For Killing 8 Year Old Get New Trial

3 men in prison since 2002 have been granted a new trial for the murder of 8 year old Demarcus Hanson.

Anthony Ross, Tyjuan Anderson and Lumont Johnson will have a new trial after former police officer, Douglas Palmer, testified that he helped frame them for murder.

Police say that Ross, Anderson and Johnson were targeting Hanson's uncle, Alex Dowthard, when the opened fire on the house in which Hanson was sleeping.  A bullet struck Hanson in the head and killed him instantly.

Police tapes allowed in court are said to have shown that police offered to drop Dowthard's charges in exchange for a testimony that would convict the 3 men.
