Rockford Man Once Accused of Murder Gets 3.5 Years in Prison

Rockford - A local man police believe murdered 25 year-old Charles Spivey in 2011 will only spend 3.5 years in prison.

Antwan Maxey, 28, was only found guilty for running away from police.  Murder charges against him were dropped after a judge ruled his right to a speedy trial was violated by prosecutors.

In 2011, Maxey attended a party in the 2000 block of Sherman Avenue.  A fight broke out and six people were shot.  Spivey was the only who died.  Two other suspects in the case are awaiting their day in court.
